So you've got a new iPhone to Verizon's network. Mazel tov. For those new to the iPhone ecosystem, it's a good idea to check out our many guides available on the new smartphone from different Apps.
We have the dueling iPhone app choices of technology columnist David Pogue and the App Smart columnist Bob Tedeschi's favorite apps, a former tech reporter and a longtime Apple Watcher, John Markoff picks and media columnist David Carr choices.
Check back often, as the Apps index is constantly updated coverage of all corners of the nytimes.com apps.
For example, Mr. Tedeschi's rules of procedure:
SOUNDHOUND (free of charge and the $ 5), you've probably heard of Shazam, an application that identifies songs. SoundHound is faster and it offers a wider range of ancillary features. Tune in to the phone and it will find the hum the song, find lyrics and perform the song performance on YouTube videos. $5 Version allows you to identify an unlimited number of songs. Free version users are entitled to five tags per month.
HIPSTAMATIC ($ 2) Scores for astrophotography, the labels are in the App store. Many are great, but is not responsible for Hipstamatic: a blend of simplicity, by chance, and art. In the heart of our programs is to saturate the filter that unpredictably, blur, or images of, inter alia, discolor. The results are always surprising and often stunning. Add $ 1 to the effects of the lenses and film packaging.
EVERNOTE (free), the company advertised this as a personal digital assistant, and it is apt. Evernote is a Note on the road, which synchronizes your desktop and the browser software (also free). IPhone allows you to copy a picture, take a photo, record, voice memo, or jot a note, and it appears on your computer (and vice versa). It also recognizes the limits of the text. The free version is stored in a fair amount of information, but the $ 45 a year, and within the limits of the data in the Hyphenate at sweat.
ANGRY birds ($ 1) in the case of A runaway favorite among the iPhone crowd, the application to test your ability to protect the barricades that are broken down into the Green pigs. The weapon: catapult launched flightless birds. No wonder they are angry. The game is easy to learn, yet challenging play with witty touches throughout. You can try to restrict the free version, but if you do, good luck in order to be paid by the cab on the version, which is in excess of 800 possible scenes.
